Post-Operative Instructions
Your dentist will go over post-operative instructions with you after a surgical procedure. If you are ever unsure about something after an extraction, or you are concerned that you are not healing efficiently, please call us and we will gladly answer any questions you have.
Using the gauze provided to you in office after an extraction, bite for 1 hour with steady pressure. Repeat if bleeding continues.

In order for an extraction site to heal properly, it is important to avoid:

Using straws
Spitting
Mouth rinses
Alcohol
Rinsing mouth for 24 hours
Smoking *avoid for as long as possible*

What you can do to promote healing:
​
AFTER 24 HOURS warm salt water rinses
Take medications as instructed
Eat soft & nutritious foods (eat normally when comfortable)
Quit smoking
